We spent a day in the country and picked a lot of flowers. Our car was full of flowers inside. On the way home , we had to stop at the traffic lights, there my wife saw a bookshelf（书架） . It is still outside for to shop. “Buy it” she said at once. We will carry it home on the roof-rack（车顶行李架）, and always want it like that. What could I do? Ten minutes later , I was twenty dollars poorer, and the bookshelf was tied on the roof-rack. It was tall and narrow , quite heavy too. And it was getting darker. I drove slowly. And the drivers seemed more polite than usual that evening.
The police even stopped traffic to let us through. Carrying furniture（家具） was a good idea . After a time, my wife said. “It is a long line comes behind. Why don’t they overtake?” Just at that time, a police car did overtake(超车). The two officers inside looked at us seriously（严肃地） . When they went passed. By then with a kind smile they asked us to follow his car to through the busy traffic. The police car stopped, and led us stop at the village church（教堂）.
