The Organizing Committee for the Beijing Olympics has said preparations to cater to foreigners coming to the games are well on course.
Director of the committee's International Department Zhao Huimin said they are in the final stage of recruiting translators. The translators include multi-lingual foreigners.
College students majoring in a foreign language are undergoing training to serve as language volunteers during the Olympics.
Zhao Huimin said his team is now working to provide the best possible service to athletes during the games. He said they would be ready to commence operations this summer.
"We're taking care of everything ? right from ensuring pistols and rifles are transported for shooting event to allocating accommodation for athletes in the Olympic village.''
The Olympic village will be serving not only Chinese and western food, but also dishes from the Middle East, India and South America.
''We will also send flowers and cards to convey our best wishes to athletes celebrating their birthday in the Olympic village.''
Regarding concerns that foreign journalists may encounter difficulties in getting visas to China, the official said Olympics-issued accreditation cards and their passports will ensure their entry.
