As part of the arrangements of the ongoing China-Japan Friendly Exchange Year, a Chinese youth delegation has started its seven-day visit to Japan.

The delegation consists of 200 members from different walks of life such as public servants, entrepreneurs, artists, scholars, teachers and university students.

One of the organizers, Ni Jian, deputy secretary-general of the All-China Youth Federation told reporters the visit is to put words by the two leaders' on strengthening bilateral cooperation into action.

"When meeting Chinese and Japanese youngsters in March, President Hu Jintao said the youth should play a bigger role to ensure that good friendship can be passed from generation to generation. And I hope visits to each other's territory can help young people improve their knowledge about each other."

The 200-member delegation is the first of its kind sent by China under the framework of the China-Japan Friendly Exchange Year. The two governments expect exchanges to involve 4,000 Chinese and Japanese young people annually in the next four years.
