POLICE OFFICER: Hello, 911 dispatch.
CYCLIST: Hello officer, someone just stole my bicycle.
POLICE OFFICER: OK, can you tell me what happened ma'am?
CYCLIST: Well, I ride it into the city every day and leave it in exactly the same place. Today when I returned after work, I couldn't find it.
POLICE OFFICER: So where exactly did you leave it?
CYCLIST: I left it around the corner on Main Street, by the post office.
POLICE OFFICER: Did you lock it to something?
CYCLIST: Yes of course, I locked it to a lamppost.
POLICE OFFICER: And when did you put it there?
CYCLIST: I put it there at about half past eight this morning.
POLICE OFFICER: Did the thief break the lock?
CYCLIST: Yes, he broke it alright.
POLICE OFFICER: Did you see the thief ?
CYCLIST: No I didn't see him.
POLICE OFFICER: What did the bike look like ?
CYCLIST: It was a new mountain bike with large wheels.
POLICE OFFICER: What color was it?
CYCLIST: It was light blue with a dark blue stripe.
POLICE OFFICER: OK. Can you come down to the station and file a report?
CYCLIST: Sure. Do you think you can find it?
POLICE OFFICER: Unfortunately, I don't think so. People steal hundreds of bikes every day. But we will try our best.
