Kenny Chesney Aims for More Honesty with Chart-Topping CD, When The Sun Goes Down

Country singer Kenny Chesney, 35, has established new milestones in his career with the release of his sixth and latest album. The collection, island-flavored CD, When The Sun Goes Down, debuted at Number One on both the Country and Top 200 Albums charts after selling nearly 560,000 copies its first week in record stores.

After wrapping up（结束） his 2003 concert tour, Kenny vacationed in the Caribbean, where he began writing songs for the collection. Four of his own songs made it onto the album. Kenny says, "This album, I hope moves me closer to where I'd like to be - someone who speaks honestly about the stuff these moments, these simple moments that define our lives, are made of. To me, that's important as a writer and an artist."

The album's debut single（单曲唱片）, There Goes My Life, was released last October. It immediately went to the top of the Country charts.

There Goes My Life reached Number One in only nine weeks. It also broke the record（打破了记录） for the highest Country debut on music sales monitoring company SoundScan's Top Tracks chart, which tracks legal Internet downloads.

Last year, Kenny recorded his 2003 hometown concerts in Knoxville, Tennessee, which drew more than 60,000 fans. The first one million copies of When The Sun Goes Down contain three bonus live tracks from the shows, including his version of Dave Loggins' 1974 Top Five pop hit, Please Come To Boston.

Kenny Chesney is among Country music's most-popular concert performers in the United States. Last year, his Margaritas 'N Senoritas tour was the third-largest ticket seller of 2003. He hopes to repeat that success with his Guitars, Tiki Bars And A Whole Lotta Love tour. North American shows are scheduled to begin on March 17 at the 2004 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Newcomer Dierks Bentley, Rascal Flatts, Australian Country star Keith Urban and pop star Uncle Kracker will share the tour's opening slot.

The new single from When The Sun Goes Down is its title track, a duet（二重奏） he recorded with Uncle Kracker. It recently entered the Country chart at Number 40 to become Kenny's highest debut ever.
