In addition to introducing the real-name ticket selling system, Guangzhou Railway Corporation opened more ticket offices and 15,000 hotlines for citizens to book tickets in order to enhance its efficiency.
However, some passengers think these acts might not solve the problem of ticket shortage.
"The move can stop fake tickets rather than ticket scalping. Some people are still forced to buy tickets from scalpers at higher price. "
"The situation is better than last year but still it's difficult to buy a ticket. I was the third in a queue and failed to buy one."
In the Spring Festival rush, railway stations all over the country have taken various measures to enhance its efficiency and facilitate passengers buying tickets.
Although the country has expanded its transportation capacity over the years through increasing frequencies and adding routes, the current capacity is still far from enough to meet the demand of the expected 210 million passengers this year.
Official of the Ministry of Railway Gao Xiaobing says the problem can only be solved by expanding the country's transporting capacity.
"The only way out is to speed up the development of railways and to build up a railway network. In the next three year, the country will complete its railways with a total length of 26000 kilometers. By the end of 2012, China will have 110,000 km of rail lines. The network will cover major cities along the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Circum-Bohai-Sea region."
The official says that by 2020, China will have 120,000 kilometers of rail line. The total length of railways allowing a speed of more than 200 km per hour will reach 18,000 km. Difficulties in purchasing tickets is expected to be solved then.
