A US plan to increase the number of troops in Afghanistan received a cautious response in Kabul on Tuesday.
Member of Parliament Ramazan Bashardost says if the increase means more security, they are welcome. However, he says they're not welcome if it means more innocent people die. He also says an increase in troop numbers wouldn't improve the security situation in the country.
Attacks against U.S., NATO and Afghan troops in Afghanistan have risen sharply recently and NATO commanders there have been asking for additional forces for years.
As for public sentiment, residents in Kabul didn't welcome a U.S. troop increase and suggest more money be put into training Afghan security forces.
