There are already elaborate plans on how to use Olympic venues and facilities after September 17. Now, the plans have extended to other Olympic-related items as well. An auction of some Olympic goods was held in the media village in Beijing this morning, marking the beginning of large scale Olympic assets dealing.
Our reporter Li Dong has the details.
Today's auction is the first one after the Beijing Olympics. The Olympic items are divided into 3 groups, namely refrigerators and freezers, coffee tables and chairs, and beds and other furniture, altogether more than 1,800 items. They are the facilities used in the media village during the Beijing Olympics.
10 bidders showed up in today's auction. Li Xiuxia, manager of a food processing company in Inner Mongolia, successfully won the first two bids with a total of 12,300 yuan.
Compared to the initial price, the final price of the first two bids increased 72 percent and 622 percent respectively.
Li Xiuxia says that she is very satisfied with the result.
"The furniture used in the Olympics has special meanings. Plus, they are eco-friendly. I plan to use some of them in my company. And I also plan to give some to my relatives and friends. They are good gifts."
The last bid's initial price is 100,000 yuan. A girl named Qin Yuanyuan from Beijing's suburban area won the bid with 120,000 yuan.
She says that she bought the furniture for her village.
"Our village just built a recreational center. This furniture was used during the Olympics. They are special. We want to use them in our newly-built center. I am very happy about winning the bid."
According to the organizers, Beijing Equity Exchange, more Olympic items will be auctioned under the authorization of BOCOG.
The next auction of Olympic items, also mainly furniture and electronic appliances, will be held on Sep 18.
