Chinese President Hu Jintao has put forward four priority areas for cooperation and coordination among the five major developing countries of China, India, Brazil, South Africa and Mexico.
He made the proposal while meeting with his counterparts from the four countries on the eve of an outreach session of the Group of Eight summit in Japan.
The four areas include strengthening solidarity and coordination and promoting common development, and stepping up coordination and advancing South-South cooperation.
Also during the meeting, Hu Jintao said it's irresponsible to blame developing countries for the global food price hike, while calling on the five nations jointly maintain global food safety.
He also said China is willing to share its experience in agricultural development and provide assistance.
