The Olympic torch relay finished its three-day, three-city journey in northwest China's Gansu Province on Monday.
The last stop in Gansu was its provincial capital, Lanzhou.
The first torchbearer there was Tian Yu, who took part in the relief efforts in areas affected by the May 12th earthquake.
"I believe with the help from all walks of life, we can soon rebuild our families."
Tian Yu started the relay at the Zhongshan Bridge, known for being the first bridge on the Yellow River.
Altogether, nearly 300 torchbearers took part in the relay in Lanzhou. The 27 kilometer route passed along the scenic route of the Yellow River, known as the cradle of the Chinese nation.
Lanzhou is the only city the Yellow River crosses from west to east.
