Four bombs have exploded at popular seaside resorts in Cantabria, in northern Spain. The blasts followed warnings from the Basque separatist group, ETA.
Two women were hurt. The explosions mark the beginning of ETA's traditional summer bombing campaign. Many European schools have started their summer holidays and ETA's campaign is aimed at hurting Spain's tourism industry.
For 40 years, the Basque have used terrorism to try to form an independent Basque state in northern Spain and southern France. More than eight hundred people have died. ETA is listed as a terrorist organization by Spain, the United States and the European Union.
