Over 1 mln volunteers to work for BJ Olympics

Beijing has recruited over 74,000 volunteers to provide services at venues, the Olympic Village and media centers for the upcoming Games. Meanwhile, more than a million volunteers will be organized to work in urban communities and rural areas.

At Wednesday afternoon's press conference, media seemed paid more attention to the volunteers than to the officials who gave out information.

Mr. Sun Fangchui is the oldest volunteer, but he would rather talk about his work than his age.

Sun Fangchui said "The role of a volunteer is of course to provide good service for the athletes and the audience. But we do have another job, and that is to make the spirit of volunteer rooted in the country's culture."
