China "seriously concerned" over ICC call to arrest Sudanese leader
The Chinese government says it has serious concerns over the International Criminal Court prosecutor's call to arrest Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.
China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao called on the parties concerned to settle the matter through consultation. Liu also said the second batch of Chinese peacekeepers is leaving for Sudan.
Liu Jianchao said "The follow-up Chinese troop of a 172-man engineering unit is scheduled to leave for Sudan's Darfur on Wednesday to join the hybrid peacekeeping force of the United Nations and the African Union. They will be the last batch of all the 315-man multi-functional engineering unit that China plans to send to Darfur."
