An outreach session of the G8 convened in the northern Japanese resort of Toyako Wednesday. Chinese President Hu Jintao attended the meeting, along with the G8 leaders and leaders from five major developing nations such as Brazil, India, South Africa and Mexico.
During the session, President Hu Jintao made proposals to promote balanced, coordinated and sustainable development of the world economy. He also called on International community to make concerted efforts to safeguard world food security.
Later in the day, President Hu attended the Major Economies Meeting on energy security and climate change. Japan has invited Australia, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, South Korea and South Africa to the meeting with leaders of the G8 countries.
