President Hu meets Japanese relief workers for Wenchuan quake
Chinese President Hu Jintao who is in Sapporo for an G8 Summit Outreach Session has met with representatives from Japan's rescue and medical teams. During Tuesday's meeting, he thanked Japanese rescuers and medical staff who had engaged in the rescue and relief operation for the May 12th earthquake.
The teams were sent to China shortly after the earthquake struck Sichuan. In Sapporo, Hu Jintao will talk about issues of common interest at a group meeting with his counterparts from India, Brazil, South Africa, and Mexico.
At the Outreach Session, G8 leaders, along with those of China and other countries invited to the meeting, will discuss climate change, and food and energy shortages.
Hu will also attend the Major Economies Meeting on Energy Security and Climate Change Wednesday.
