Successive rainstorms continue to hit the southern part of China during the weekend, causing at least 55 deaths and more than one million people evacuated.
The disaster has so far damaged crops on nearly 900,000 hectares of farms and toppled down 45,000 houses.
In Guangdong Province, two swollen rivers have converged in the Pearl River Delta which is a major manufacturing base of China. It is resulting in a flood equivalent to a worst in 50 years.
Recent rainstorms and floods have affected nearly 6 million people in the province, including 20 deaths.
In Jiangxi province, the fourth round of torrential rain has hit the region affecting nearly 4 million people.
Xie Shanliang is a local farmer. He is upset about his harvest being destroyed.
"They can be sold to the market in just a few days. Now the sudden rainstorm has flooded all the watermelons and the rice."
In neighboring Hunan province, nearly 2 million people have been affected. Rescue forces are taking boats to transfer people who have been stranded by the flood. Local authorities are taking emergency measures to prevent rainstorm-triggered floods from further damaging lives.
Feng Kangrui is a local official responsible for transferring villagers.
"We must ensure everyone's safety. All officials have to work over the night, to make sure no one is left in danger."
The rainstorms and floods ravaged totally nine provinces and region in south and east China. The direct economic loss has surpassed 10 billion yuan, or more than one and a half billion U.S. dollars.
The meteorologist says more heavy rains are expected in southern parts of the country for the next few days.
