Shops and restaurants have reopened to customers in Mianyang city in Sichuan Province after flood threats from a major overflowing quake-formed lake were averted.
On Sunday, local residents grasped the opportunity to go shopping and get some recreation. Meanwhile, the city's banks also resumed their services.
A woman was delighted to be able to withdraw some money from a Sichuan Rural Credit Cooperatives branch.
"The service here is the same as that of before the quake. I live in the same building as the branch. I noticed that it has been operating at all times since May 12th. I felt relieved when I saw the bank branch open each day."
In a bid to assist reconstruction efforts, Sichuan Rural Credit Cooperatives has adopted preferential policies to offer loans to individuals and enterprises.
A woman surnamed Yin is in charge of one of its branches.
"We have carried out our work smoothly after the quake. We will offer loans so citizens can resume their lives and companies can resume production. In addition, we will provide financial assistance to local enterprises affected by the massive quake."
Mianyang city was one of the worst-hit regions in last month's earthquake. It was later threatened by a rising quake-triggered barrier lake.
