Senior Party leader Zhou Yongkang is visiting several of the worst-hit areas in the quake zone during a five-day visit. He stressed that maintaining social stability is the key to successfully recovering from the deadly earthquake.
As the secretary of the Committee of Political and Legislative Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, Zhou Yongkang is visiting public security and judicial departments temporarily relocated to tents, along with mobile courts in the quake zone. He praised the hard work of police and court officials in saving and helping quake victims.
Zhou also called on them to continue playing a constructive role in resolving social conflicts while safeguarding stability. He stressed the importance of a return to normal life, helping survivors rebuild their confidence. He urged local police officers to severely punish crimes to ensure the security of people in the quake zone.
Zhou Yongkang also visited a number of resettlement camps, asking residents about their living conditions. During his visit to several villages, Zhou Yongkang asked local authorities to regularly visit every family affected by the quake. He also urged them to intensify information collection on casualties and damages resulting from the quake.
