Containing outbreak of any epidemic diseases in the earthquake areas has become a top concern for China.
Medical personnel in the quake region are now providing mass emergency vaccinations to curb potential epidemics.
Wu Chen is a medical worker in charge of vaccination work in Deyang, located in northeastern part of Sichuan province.
"The Sichuan Disease Control and Prevention Center delivers the vaccines we need in refrigerator trucks to the city. The city then distributes these vaccines to subordinate counties and towns. We have notified the residents about the vaccination through the community offices. For those living in makeshift homes, we have designated the temporary hospitals set up there to do the job."
Chinese Health officials say by June 15, emergency inoculation will be completed including vaccines against Hepatitis A and Encephalitis B
Meanwhile, mass disinfection has also been carried out throughout the quake regions as medical experts warned that the immunity of the local people has been weakened due to the poor living conditions there.
Doctors in the quake regions said they had noticed cases of fever and diarrhea, but so far nothing to suggest a big outbreak of any major disease.
