The resettlement of people affected by the earthquake now has become a priority in the disaster relief work.
China has been trying its hardest to find shelters for earthquake victims by accelerating production of tents and related materials nationwide to construct temporary houses in the earthquake region.
The government has allocated special funds to build 1 million temporary apartments for more than 14 million people whose houses were damaged in the earthquake.
President Hu Jintao has visited tent and temporary house manufacturers in Langfang city in North China's Hebei province.
The factories Hu Jintao visited have received orders to produce 19,500 temporary houses within a short time.
During his stay, Hu Jintao was shown around the factory and he learned about the process of producing the temporary homes. He thanked the factory workers and highlighted the importance of manufacturing housing for survivors.
"Accommodating people from the quake-hit areas has become the priority in the current relief work. The biggest difficulty we are now facing is that temporary houses are in short supply. More than 14 million people are waiting for resettlement. Producing more temporary houses is a big part of the central government's plan to solve the problem. Please do all you can to overcome any difficulties and complete the order as soon as possible, giving top priority to quality. It will be of great help to the earthquake relief work".
President Hu Jintao also urged government departments at all levels to ensure the supply of raw materials, parts and finance to housing contractors.
