Many torch bearers in southeastern China have expressed their sadness and sympathy to quake-affected people, but they insist that holding a peaceful and succesful relay is their best blessing.
Wang Jin, a hospital worker, was the sixth runner of the relay in Longyan city, southeastern Fujian province.
"My hospital has sent two doctors and two nurses to help with the rescue work. I hope the sacred torch relay can bring our wishes and regards to them."
Finzel Nora is a torch bearer from Germany who will be involved on Wednesday.
"Everybody in Germany says it's dangerous and you couldn't go there. I said no. I would go there. Because I want the games and the torch go on. I think it's very important for China that people support and go come here."
In related news, the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee has said there is no plan at the moment to change the torch relay route in Sichuan, scheduled for mid next month.
However, it adds that it's still evaluating the earthquake impact, and a backup scheme may be in place to ensure the safety of the Olympic flame.
