China's top advisor says China and Hungary should seek to expand cooperation in the field of cutting-edge technology.
The chairman of China's top political advisory body, Jia Qinglin, made the remarks during a meeting with Hungarian and Chinese entrepreneurs in Budapest on Friday.
"The people of Hungary are famous as the 'people for inventions'. The country has an edge in technology and talent. China is also pushing forward its technological innovations and improving its traditional industries through state-of-the-art technology. China and Hungary can seek to expand cooperation in fields such as economics, new energy, new materials and bio-technology."
Jia Qinglin also said China's development will provide new economic opportunities for countries like Hungary.
The advisor arrived in Hungary Wednesday for an official goodwill visit. It is the first trip made by a head of China's top political advisory body, known as the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference or CPPCC, since the two countries established diplomatic ties 59 years ago.
Hungary is the second leg of Jia Qinglin's current four-nation Europe tour after Romania. He will next visit Slovenia and Croatia.
