With the Beijing Olympics only 96 days away, over six-thousand young volunteers turned out for a rally on Sunday for China's Youth Day.
The rally at Beijing's Worker's Stadium was attended by Liu Qi, the president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games.
Xie Bingze is an Olympic Volunteer.
"As a young man who loves his motherland, I want to help bring glory to my country. Being a volunteer is a meaningful way for me to do this."
The organizing committee reports that by the end of March, more than 1.1 million people had volunteered, and more than 908,000 of the applicants had applied for both the Beijing Olympics and the Paralympics.
The volunteer training program started two years ago with each volunteer taking training classes that included competition rules, English and first-aid.
Most of the volunteers have completed both general and special training, and have attended the 'Good Luck Beijing' sport events in Beijing.
