A new regulation from China's aviation authority limits economy-class passengers on domestic flights to one item of hand luggage. The rule took effect on May 1st and passengers at China's major airports have said such a change hasn't inconvenienced them. CRI's Zheng Chenguang reports.
The new rule means domestic economy-class passengers can only carry on board one piece of luggage weighing no more than five kilograms, aside from their checked-in items. First class passengers can carry two items with them.
A passenger at the Beijing Capital International Airport said although he carried extra luggage, a little painting in addition to a laptop computer, he didn't have a problem and passed through the check-in desk smoothly.
"I think it's good for the airport. It really puts people first."
Another passenger said it was easy to figure out a solution even though she had to take two pieces of luggage.
"I have two pieces of luggage. Now I've put them into one plastic bag and it becomes one single piece of luggage."
Many aviation companies said they will deal flexibly with the new requirement and take the actual needs of the passengers as priorities.
Staff at the Beijing airport check-in desk also said the amount of checked luggage had not increased significantly.
