Former Pakistani Prime Minister and leader of the ruling coalition Nawaz Sharif has announcedthat all judges sacked by President Pervez Musharraf last November would be restored in a week.
Sharif said that a resolution would be tabled in the National Assembly, the lower house of the parliament, to restore around 60 top judges. The judgers were dismissed last November when President Musharraf imposed emergency.
"I want to inform the whole nation that on Monday, May 12, 2008, God willing, all the deposed judges will be restored. All the judges who were unconstitutionally and illegally deposed will be reinstated to their offices."
Sharif said that the government would issue a notification to restore the judges after the parliament adopts the resolution, that's according to what he and leader of the Pakistan People's Party leader Asif Ali Zardari have agreed in their previous talks.
