In Spain, a powerful car bomb has exploded outside barracks housing police and their families in the country's north, killing one officer and injuring four others.
The dead officer has been identified as 41-year-old Juan Manuel Pinuel Villalon. At least two people were trapped in the rubble. Another officer was pulled out with injuries.
The Basque separatist group ETA have been blamed for Wednesday's blast. The government has described it as an attempted massacre. Officials say ETA often phone in warnings before attacks, but did not do so this time.
