The United Nations has announced that it will allocate at least ten million US dollars from its Central Emergency Response Fund for cyclone-ravaged Myanmar. The world body is also expected to make an urgent appeal on Friday to raise more money.
The powerful cyclone slammed into Myanmar's five divisions and states, including Yangon, last weekend causing heavy casualties and property loss. The latest statistics show that nearly 23-thousand people have been killed. And more than 42,000 others are missing. Meanwhile, the total number of injured has reached more than 1,300.
