Scorching heat is paralyzing life for people in India's eastern Orissa state. The temperature and humidity levels continue to rise, killing a dozen people so far.
With summer just beginning, the average temperature has yet to peak. It's presently hovering at around 40 degrees. Coupled with high humidity, the heat is making life miserable in the state.
The government has taken social relief measures. Temperatures are expected to continue soaring and there's little chance of rain. The sea breeze is also missing, adding to the misery.
