Georgian President confident of ruling party´s win
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili says the upcoming parliamentary elections will be a victory for the ruling National Movement Party.
Addressing the party congress in Tbilisi on Saturday, Saakashvili called the elections a moment of truth. He says the May 21st vote is a unique chance for the ruling party to unite and become stronger.
In his speech, Saakashvili also touched upon Georgia's territorial integrity. The issue has been under the spotlight recently, after Moscow established direct ties with two breakaway Georgian regions and announced plans to send in more troops. Saakashvili has repeatedly vowed to bring Abkhazia and South Ossetia under government control peacefully.
