US President George W. Bush is being criticized in India for his remarks on the global food crisis. Bush reportedly said India's rising middle class and increased consumption had triggered the crisis.
Brinda Karat, politburo member of the Communist Party Of India, calls Bush's comments a reflection of the imperialist mentality.
Speaking at an interactive session on economy in Missouri, Bush also said there were several factors behind the present crisis, such as investment in biofuels.
