Overseas Chinese hold Olympic countdown celebrations

Olympic countdown celebrations are also being held overseas by Chinese embassies and the general public.

In Egypt, hundreds of people including Chinese diplomats, university teachers and students, participated in a ceremony at the Chinese Culture Center in Cairo.

Chinese students in Belgium held a peaceful gathering in front of the EU headquarters in Brussels to welcome the Olympic countdown.

Britain's Olympic Committee also organized celebrations with its Olympic athletes in London.
