Tom: What's your favorite steps?
Kate: It's hard to say. But I do love fox trot and Waltz.
Tom: How about rock'n'roll?
Kate: To tell the truth, I don't like it. It's too noisy.
Tom: And can you dance Tango?
Kate: Oh, it's really beautiful. But I just can't dance it well.
Tom: Don't be so modest. I'm sure you can dance it very well. Then I'll see you at 6. Is that all right?
Kate: OK.
Dialogue 1
Tom: Would you like to dance with me?
Kate: Oh, yes, of course. How would you like to go to an American square dance?
Tom: Any kind I'd like to. But I have never heard of this.
Kate: If you're interested in it. I'll teach you.
Tom: I'm very slow in learning a dance. I'm afraid I'll step your feet.
Kate: No, impossible. It's probably similar to fox dancing in your country, and the music will make you dance.
Tom: The highland dance is exciting, especially the highland music which immediately makes you want to dance very much.
Kate: Well. When and where shall we meet?
Tom: At 8 sharp tonight under the tree in front of the gym, ok?
Kate: Ok. See you then. Bye.
Dialogue 2
Tom: We are late for the dance, kate.
Kate: Yes, it's mobbed.
Tom: It's loud, isn’t it?
Kate: Yes, those flashing lights make everything seem strange.
Tom: They are called stroll lights, used for atmosphere.
Kate: Look! They are dancing gracefully, aren’t they?
Tom: And they are well matched.
Kate: Do you like the fox trot?
Tom: Yes, but I’m only a beginner. I don’t know the steps.
Kate: Don’t worry about that.We should stop to join them, shall we?
Tom: Ok, let me learn to dance and practice. Thanks in advance for your teaching.
Kate: My pleasure.
Dialogue 3
Kate: Great, Tom. You danced lightly.
Tom: Thanks. It’s an adnation to me.
Kate: Everyone said so. And you had a strong music sense.
Tom: Oh, a person without music sense can’t dance with lively rhythm. I often saw you go to disco. You must be able to dance well.
Kate: When I went to those places with somebody, I only sat at the table.
Tom: Perhaps that is the reason why you can not dance well.Graceful dance usually comes from careful practice.
Kate: I think dancing is of little benefit to us young women. It’s expensive and harmful.
Tom: I’m sorry. I don’t agree with you. Dancing benefits everyone. It makes young girl more slender and healthy.
Kate: Accordingly, I shouldn’t have just sat at the table, only watching and listening.
Tom: If you like, we’ll dance together tomorrow evening.
Kate: Oh, yes. I have been looking forward to it for long.
