In Zimbabwe, hundreds of police have raided the headquarters of the main opposition party in the capital city of Harare. Police say Friday's raid was in search of suspects responsible for post-election violence.
Officials from the Movement for Democratic Change Party say the heavily armed officers arrested more than 300 people, many of them were pregnant women and mothers with small children. They were seeking refuge in the headquarters building after being attacked by ruling party loyalists. The raid came only a day after the United States declared opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai the winner of Zimbabwe's recent presidential election.
