The Olympic flame has now arrived in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta for the 14th leg of its global journey. This is the first time the Olympic flame has made it to Indonesian soil.
The chartered plane carrying the Olympic flame arrived at Halim Perdanakusumah Airport from Malaysia early Tuesday morning.
Indonesian sports officials and Chinese ambassador, Lan Lijun welcomed the Beijing delegation.
The torch relay will take place Tuesday afternoon inside the Bung Karno Sports Complex. Eighty torch bearers will take part in the seven kilometer relay.
The country's sports officials have welcomed the flame.
The Indonesian National Olympic Committee expects more than 5,000 people to watch the relay.
The Indonesian government has selected several Chinese torch bearers as there's a large Chinese community in the country.
Overseas Chinese torchbearer Zhang Jinxiong said, "I want to preserve the torch in a glass box at home, so my offspring can see it."
Officials say security is tight with the local government and police well prepared to prevent any disruptions.
