Syria has again comdemned the United States for fabricating information that Syria had been involved in secret nuclear activities with North Korea.
Syrian ambassador to the U.S. Imad Moustapha said the reports were absurd and preposterous.
"Can you believe, can anyone be as gullible as this? An allegedly strategic site in Syria, without a single military checkpoint around it; without barbed wire around it; without anti-aircraft missiles around it?"
The CIA said North Korea had helped Syria to build a secret nuclear reactor that was later bombed by Israeli jets last September.
Moustapha said the U.S. scheme was designed to add weight to their talks with North Korea, and that there could be more false stories in the coming weeks.
" In Syria we believe that the true purpose is their talks with North Korea, and we believe that the actual sinister forces behind this new set of lies are related to neoconservative elements that are extremely unhappy with any agreement between the United States and North Korea, and want to undermine this in one way or another, by putting unrealistic conditions on the North Koreans."
