Pakistani president Pervez Musharraff says he is full of hope for a successful Beijing Olympic Games.
He made the remarks in a recent exclusive interview with CRI's correspondent in Islamabad.
"We think that this will be the best Games the world has ever seen. We wish China luck and maybe there'll emerge the maximum medal winners of the world."
Musharaff says Pakistan will always be standing with China and opposes any attempt to sabotage the Olympics.
"It'll be a tragedy and unfortunate to boycott the Beijing Olympic Games. We here feel maybe this will be the best ever Olympic Games with China organizing with its own expertise, own style of doing things. So it will be more unfortunate if anyone is trying to boycott them or create misunderstandings or do anything which undermines the Games. Whatever the Pakistan can contribute towards removing any attempts to destruct the Games, we would be totally board with China."
The Olympic flame will arrive at Pakistan's capital of Islamabad on April 16th. It will be the first time for Pakistan to take part in the global torch relay. Musharaff says he will be back in Pakistan when finishing his visit to China and be part of the ceremony for the Olympic flame arrival.
"They are making all efforts, the government is making all efforts to make sure, guarantee the security of this ceremony, and I'm very positive that nothing will happen. It'll be a grand ceremony. We'll show our friendship, association, our strong bonds with China during the ceremony."
Musharaff will be visiting China in a couple of days, and during his 6-day working visit he is expected to meet with Chinese leaders and attend the 2008 Boao Forum for Asia in China's southern Hainan Province.
