Doping has become a worldwide problem in sporting events. The International Olympic Committee has stated that it will increase doping tests from the 3,600 athletes tested during in the last Olympics to 4,500 during the Beijing Games.
Thomas Bach, vice president of the Association of National Olympic Committees, says the anti-doping regulations will be more strict for the 2008 Olympic Games than ever before.
"The Olympic Games in Beijing will be the tightest control on sports event ever, and this means not only the number of the tests, this means also the quality of the tests, and this means the regulations in place for the Games. We are going to approve this week the new anti-doping regulations for the Beijing Olympic Games and also this will be the tightest net that we've ever had."
China is currently working to cooperate with the International Olympic Committee to ensure a clean Olympic Games. The largest anti-doping agency in the world was established in Beijing last year to cope with the large volume of tests for the upcoming event.
