China's top legislator Wu Bangguo calls the Olympic Movement "a common wealth of mankind", while addressing the opening of the 16th general assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees, or ANOC.
Wu Bangguo says China is getting all-round preparation in order to ensure a successful Olympic Games and Paralympics.
"The Chinese Government and people would continue to step up cooperation with the international Olympic Committee, the Association of National Olympic Committees and the international sports circle, work hard on the preparatory work, and ensure the success of the Beijing Olympic Games and Paralympics."
Wu says China warmly welcomes athletes, coaches and people of all circles from different countries and regions to attend, observe and cover the Beijing Olympic Games and Paralympics.
He highlights the importance of the convening of the first ANOC biennial meeting in China, saying it added luster to Beijing, the host city of the 2008 Olympic Games and Paralympics.
ANOC President Mario Vazquez Rana says in his opening remarks that the Association of National Olympic Committees has supported very resolutely and firmly the organization of the Beijing Olympic Games.
ANOC is currently made up of 205 national Olympic committees. They meet at least once every two years to exchange information and experiences to consolidate their role within the Olympic Movement.
