Kenya's political leaders agreed on a new Cabinet Thursday, as part of a power-sharing deal to end post-election violence that killed more than 1,000 people.
Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga said:
"Today we have reached some agreement about the size of the cabinet, the details of which are going to be released shortly. We have also agreed that we will announce the cabinet on Sunday and that the cabinet will be sworn in on Saturday, a week from today."
The agreement between President Mwai Kibaki and opposition leader Raila Odinga comes one day after former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan said he was concerned over the slow pace of forming a new government under the deal he brokered in February.
Kibaki and Odinga have been wrangling over the makeup of the Cabinet, which is meant to be split between Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement and Kibaki's allies.
Both men claimed victory in the 27 December 2007 presidential election, which sparked weeks of violence before the two agreed to share power.
