Chinese premier Wen Jiabao states that China will continue to foster good-neighborliness and partnership with adjacent countries and will always be a good neighbor and good partner of them.
Wen made the remarks during his visit in Laos, where he also attended the Third Summit of the Greater Mekong Subregion. He stresses that China is and will always be an active partner and promoter in the Greater Mekong Sub-regional Cooperation Program.
While attending the completion ceremony of phase one of the GMS Information Superhighway Project, the Chinese premier says China will continue to closely cooperate with other GMS countries and the Asian Development Bank to implement next phases of the project.
"Speeding up the infrastructure construction as well as the telecommunication cooperation in Greater Mekong Subregion are the common demand and wish of each country. We should effectively build, operate and use the GMS Information Superhighway Network, strive to improve the network service and ultimately make people benefit from it."
On the third GMS leaders' forum, Wen says as long as the member countries can adhere to the mutual benefit and win-win solution, while deepening the connection on various levels and fields, the Greater Mekong Sub-region can make new achievements in benefiting its people.
On the developing of rural area, Wen calls for a better developing and using of biological energy.
The Summit is the highest forum in the GMS Program, serving as the venue where the GMS Leaders can review the progress of, and agree on future directions for, the GMS Program.
