US nuclear envoy Christopher Hill says the next round of six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue could take place this month. That's according to the ITAR-Tass news agency.
Hill arrived in Moscow on Friday for consultations with Russia, one of the countries involved in the talks.
The visit came amid concern over North Korea's failure to meet a year-end deadline for a full declaration of its nuclear activities.
Speaking to reporters after his talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Losyukov, Hill emphasised the need for North Korea to quickly produce a complete and correct declaration.
Hill said the six-party talks remained the right process for dealing with the nuclear issue.
This is the right process for dealing with this difficult problem. There is a consensus that even though you encounter difficulties, you encounter some bumps in the road, that we should try to overcome those and keep going.
In Beijing on Thursday, Hill said North Korea may be dragging its feet on fully declaring its nuclear activities for fear of revealing hidden programmes that would invite further scrutiny.
The North said last week it had already provided the US with the declaration, but Washington says Pyongyang has not yet given a complete accounting.
