Indonesian former president Suharto's condition has improved although he is still weak.
Mardio Soebiandono, head of the medical team caring for the former president made the announcement at a news conference Monday in Jakarta.
Suharto's condition is showing a lot of progress this morning, even though his general condition is still weak. His awareness and communication is good.
The head of the medical team also reported that the former president's blood pressure had stabilized by Sunday and the swelling in his lungs and intestines had been reduced through a blood transfusion and ongoing dialysis.
Suharto, 86, was admitted on Friday to Pertamina Hospital in the capital Jakarta.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono urged Indonesians to pray for Suharto's recovery.
A dialysis machine as well as other medical equipment were rushed to Suharto's bedside and 40 specialists assembled to diagnose and treat him.
