The Japanese city of Nagoya kicked off its second Chinese Spring Festival gala on Saturday.
Organizers say the gala is a great opportunity for the Japanese to learn Chinese traditions and observe the Spring Festival with the Chinese.
At the opening ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Japan Cui Tiankai expressed his appreciation for the overseas Chinese in Japan for their efforts in promoting Sino-Japanese friendship.
Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people. It is a time for family reunions and can best showcase Chinese culture. The overseas Chinese in Japan have been actively promoting Chinese culture as they try to integrate into Japanese society. They are playing an important role in the development of Sino-Japanese friendship.
Yasue Tomomi is a visitor at the gala. She says both her parents have been to China.
I'm quite interested in the Chinese Spring Festival gala. I especially want to taste real Chinese dumplings.
The festival will last three days and feature an array of traditional Chinese food, performances and folk customs.
