The Beijing government will establish a new regulation in February to ban smoking in public areas, in a bid to build a healthier city and promote smoke-free Olympics.
Many local citizens said they would support the new regulation, and here's one of them.
This policy is feasible. Smoking should be banned in public areas. Anyone who violates the regulation should be punished.
Smokers also showed their willingness to obey the rules.
If we are not allowed to smoke in public places, OK, no problem. After all, it will do good to everyone if we stop smoking in public.
According to the new regulation, smoking would be banned in gymnasiums, hotels, restaurants, government offices, historical and cultural relics open to the public etc. Anyone who insists on smoking in public would be fined 50 yuan, or 7 dollars per time.
Among 1.1 billion smokers around the world, 350 million are from China, and more than 1 million people die from smoking-related diseases every year.
