China's first lunar probe, Chang'e-1, has successfully captured its pictures of the polar area on the moon. It's also the first-ever such picture taken by Chinese.
The images comprise the moon's southern polar area. Scientists began testing high-quality cameras in early January in preparation for the undertaking.

In April and May, scientists will gather for a professional commission to further analyze the pictures and related data.
Chang'e-1 has been carrying out explorations since it entered the moon's orbit on November 7. It captured China's first picture of the moon in late November.
