I still remember our first meeting two years ago, when I'd just graduated from a universityof medical science in South China.

That day, I was walking in the street, thinking about my boring job and my depressing life. Someone passed by, and said "Hi" to me with a big smile. I noticed that he was a tall, white man. He had brown hair and beautiful eyes. I smiled back and we began to talk.

He was from Slovenia, a small country in Central Europe. He'd cometo China for business. We both had a good time that day, and he asked me to be his city guide during his stay. Over the following days, we shared our different cultures. He had been to China many times and liked to drink tea, so we often talked over cups of tea.

When we had dinner, I taught him how to order the dishes in Chinese. When the waiter came, I listened as he tried out the new words we'd pracitced. The waiter often gave us a funny look.

We kept in touch with each other through MSN and telephone after he went back to his country. He came to China once a month. Everytime he ws here, we would meet up.

He always said that I reminded him of his childhood. Recalling the good old days allowed him to relieve his stress. He sometimes acted like a little boy when he was with me. He loved to eat chocolate and ice cream, adn he always ate too much--even though he'd made up his mind to lose weight.

Once, he looked rather upset. He said he'd been cheated by his work partner, as well as his best friend, whom he'd known since childhood. I tried to cheer him up, but it was no use. The whole night, he didn't say a word.

When I touched his hair, he suddenly hugged me, and kissed me. I felt very nervous, but it was very sweet. I knew I was falling in love with him. Iknew something was going to happen, and I wanted it to.

But he stopped:"I'm sorry, Cherry, you're a nice girl, but please don't fall in love with me. We're so different! I apologize for what I did just now. I'd like to keep a long-term friendship with you as long as you're willing. I'm a man who doesn't want to marry."

I knew that the only woman he'd wanted to marry betrayed him five years ago. After that, he had a girlfriend from Thailand. But a year later, they broke up because he was too busy to take care of her. I wished I could take their place and be his girl, but now it seems this day will never come.

I felt my heart breaking into pieces, but I knew that what he said was right. We came from teo different worlds, and he is 13 years older than me. I still love him, but in a respectful way.
