Chinese, U.S. presidents talk over phone on quake, ties, Tibet
US President George W. Bush has extended his condolences to the victims of China's most devastating earthquake in 30 years.
In a telephone conversation with President Hu Jintao on Tuesday evening, Bush said his country has deep sympathy for the Chinese people, and it will provide all possible assistance to the disaster areas.
Hu thanked him and said the Chinese government is doing its utmost in disaster relief operations.
Hu Jintao also spoke of the upcoming fourth China-US strategic economic dialogue. He said he is willing to work with Bush and contribute to the healthy development of bilateral ties.
Hu Jintao also reiterated China's stance on the Tibet issue. He hoped the US will take a fair stance and address the issue properly.
