China's quality watchdog is requiring manufacturers that produce Olympics food products to put barcodes on their packaging. It will also bring more products into the electronic quality supervision network by the end of this year.

China's quality watchdog is requiring manufacturers that produce Olympics food products to put barcodes on their packaging.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine says the network will track and monitor the food products throughout the process, from manufacturing to sales.

The quality watchdog will bring 69 more types of products -- including food, raw materials and home appliances -- into the monitoring system. Companies that produce those products are required to employ the system by the end of June.
