Topic: maintaining the public libraries is a waste of money because the computer technology is replacing its function. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
With the increasingly updated technology, our life enjoys growing convenience day by day. The fast-developing technology endows us with a practically useful tool, that is computer, with which we can accomplish a vast amount of things, among which is reading books.
Without doubt, reading on the internet is really a convenience as well as an enjoyment that can greatly facilitate the procedure of book-finding. Instead of fussing about hunting for a preferable book with an unknown result in the library, we can simply appreciate our desirable one with clicks in no time. Moreover, if the library is located far from your dwelling, how inconvenient for you to shuttle between the two sites, not to mention when you encounter terribly whether! However, a computer at home can vouchsafe diverse feasts of reading to you as long as you want.
So since computer possesses so many strengths, do we really need to eliminate the use of library? Definitely not. Compared with computer, library also has its own advantages. As library is defined as a public place, it can open its arms to various people ranging from the young to the old who are keen on reading. While reading in the library, people will always sense an active atmosphere of learning that will push them to persist and learn more! Furthermore, reading in the library can assure better health for people to a larger extent than reading before the computer, which will give off strong radiation that will impair our eyesight tremendously. Unquestionably constructing a library is financially high-cost, but the library is an essential public facility that can largely display the cultural image of a city! It is playing an indispensable role to enrich citizens’ cultural life and enhance their cultural stuff! last but not least, nowadays not everyone is financially rich to afford a computer, which implicates they do need the library to acquire more knowledge.
So personally speaking, I do not approve that we should get rid of library and totally depend on computer! Library is still a must to many people. The most important thing is we should spare no efforts to strike a balance between uses of computer and library and make the most of their respective edges while meantime warding off the disadvantages.
